The logo brief and delivery checklist

Use it before you hire anyone, on Fiverr or elsewhere. Print it, or tick it off on screen.

Before you hire

Write your business name exactly as it should appear, plus any tagline.
Describe your customer in one sentence.
Pick three adjectives for how the brand should feel (for example: calm, premium, playful).
Save 3 to 5 logos you like and 1 or 2 you dislike, with a note on why.
List colors you want and colors to avoid.
List every place the logo will appear: website, Etsy banner, packaging, social avatar, signage.

When choosing a designer

Their portfolio includes work in the style you want.
Recent reviews come from buyers with businesses like yours.
The package includes vector files (AI, EPS, SVG or PDF), not only PNG or JPG.
The package states how many concepts and revisions you get.
You know whether commercial use and source files are included.
You messaged the seller with your brief and got a clear reply before ordering.

When the files arrive

Full-color, one-color, and reversed (light on dark) versions.
A transparent-background PNG for the web and an SVG or vector file for print.
A square or round version that still reads as a small social avatar.
The exact color codes (HEX and CMYK) and font names.
Check the logo at 32 pixels wide. If it turns to mush, ask for a simplified mark.

Next: turn this into a one-page brief, then hire a designer.
